U.S. Mother's Day

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve: Spellbinders/Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch, Lawn Fawn Sally's ABCs

A Mother's Day Card for all the mothers out there! I think this Lawn Fawn font is perfect for doodling around and the Posy Patch flowers from Spellbinders and Heartfelt Creations help frame the sentiment. I've used some of the limited edition summer promarkers to colour the flowers and leaves with lots of stickles for shine.

WMS Blue Rocket Birthday

Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Quinn's 123s & ABCs

I really enjoyed my last crafting interlude, but was a little remiss at tiding up. Everything was stilled splayed over the table, so instead of clearing it all away I decided to use everything again with a little twist. While the embossing paste was still wet I sprinkled it with distress glitter and left it to dry by itself. I've chosen a blue colour scheme for a cooler and brighter look. I made sure to leave room for the WMS have a blast sentiment on the front of the card, but can you spot what I forgot to add in? Yes, the three dots to connect the numbers, hopefully Ruairí will not be too upset!

The glitter is fab in the sunlight, but a little muted on camera. I'm not sure if this is the best way to ensure the glitter stays put, as there was some rub off. Next time I might try some glittery embossing powders.

Challenges:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Quinn's 123s & ABCs
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Stencil: Prima Finnabair Stars
Paper: White card from stash
Highlights: Glossy Accents, Stickles, distress glitter, white embossing paste, silver gel pen, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Gold
Colouring : Promarkers/Flexmarkers

As you can see, I now have a great excuse for not tiding up- extra crafting inspiration! I don't think I'll get away with that for long though so I'd better bite the bullet and put everything back in its own crafty space. Thanks for visiting and hope to see you again soon.

WMS Red Rocket Birthday

Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Quinn's 123s & ABCs

I've not had a lot of crafty time over the last few months, but I wanted to celebrate Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge's first birthday. I've used one of my favourite Waltzingmouse stamps and a few of my favourite techniques to create a starry sky for the birthday rocket. I love how you can choose a face to match the birthday boy!

Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Quinn's 123s & ABCs

The star stencil was a little thicker than my other masks, so allowed a much deeper layer of embossing paste. After inking with distress inks I wiped the stars to leave them a little brighter than the background and added some splatter drop planets in red, white and gold.

My main sentiment was on the inside as the rocket's countdown and the stars had taken over all of the outside! This sentiment is one of the reasons I keep coming back to the rocket stamp, time and time again.

Another look at the glitter and glossy accents added to the stars and the cute little red rocket.

Love, Muse & Sketch

Lawn Fawn Peace Joy Love, You've Got Mail, Into the Woods, Winter Gifts, Tag You're It, Heart Dies

This card was inspired by my Lawnscaping muse, Yainea's Thank-you card. I've used lots of glitter, tags, cord, a central die cut shape, white embossing and glimmer mist spray.  I love Yainea's cards and find great inspiration on her blog: My Paper Journey.
My layout is taken from CTS#61 and the Lovey Dovey theme from Sentimental Sundays Challenge #191.

Lawn Fawn Peace Joy Love, You've Got Mail, Into the Woods, Winter Gifts, Tag You're It, Heart Dies

To make the card for the tags, I brushed white card with gesso and allowed it to dry. I then applied and blended Black soot distress ink and Memento London Fog onto the card. Lastly I liberally sprayed with glimmer mist to add lots of shine. For a fabulous example of this technique see Gayatri's gorgeous card on her blog. For the background, I randomly stamped 3 solid hearts from different Lawn Fawn sets in Picked Raspberry, stickle-ing and stella-ing some of them.

My next challenge is to decide if this is a valentine's card or a bride to be on her hen night's card and choose an appropriate sentiment for the inside. What do you think?

On Trend Birthday

Fresh Squeezed Stamps On Trend 2013

Pink and orange hot distress ink sunset as the backdrop to my shiny silver city. Another quick entry for the 10 Minute Craft Dash. After inking and misting I heat set the background for a minute and liberally covered it in powder from my magic bag. I had all the stamps on one block and quickly restamped the skyline before heat embossing in silver. Masking tape and sequin ribbon to ground the image and stop the clock. 9 minutes 54.13 seconds, yay!

Fresh Squeezed Stamps On Trend 2013

Lots of glitter and shine for a sparkly new year birthday. Outside the 10 minute window I added some die cut letters to personalise the card. This card is also for Sentimental Sundays 'Pick from our Favourite Challenge', under Challenge #170: Happy Birthday and Papertake Weekly Challenge: Pick of the Year under the challenge from June: Hot Hot Hot.

Muse Framed

Therese Calvird is our muse this week. I've taken inspiration from her card layout and inverted it. I've used the same shaped card, plus I've framed my image in a dark solid colour with large white border and used five elements with a sentiment.
The blue flamingo amongst the pink ones reminded me of Vincent Van Gogh's Irises: one white flower in a sea of blue, of being alone in a crowd, standing tall and being yourself.

I coloured the daisies & cardstock with Promarkers/Flexmarkers.  I love the flick the Flexmarkers provide and I look forward to practicing this technique.

WMS May Blog Party–Teacher Appreciation

It's teacher appreciation time for WMS Blog Party. I didn't quite have the sentiment I wanted, but with a little masking this was what I got! Don't look too close, though :) I need more masking practice.
This is for a special teacher as her class moves on after two years. I've kept it very simple, with embossing as the only embellishment.

Hope you enjoyed my teacher appreciation card & take a look at the other cards in the Blog Party.

You are loved

Paper Smooches set us a special challenge this week to create a project with a heart on it. I've used this weeks designer draft sketch, die cut a foam heart, & Stickled the heart in my sentiment. My fur ball is coloured with Cool Grey Promarkers & left hanging on some washi chevrons atop my mini card.

Top Tip:
Washi not wide enough, you can line up strips side by side to get different widths and as it's repositionable you can more it around without ruining your project until you get it right.

Happy Valentine's!

I really wanted the heart to be the focus of this card, so I coloured my heart thief from Mo Manning in shades of grey & kept my cardstock to layers of white on white with some Stickles for glitter & Glossy Accents for shine.

Top Tip:
If your piece of cardstock is larger than your embossing folder, choose a pattern that you can easily match up & re-emboss with a pokey tool from behind.

Peacock Feathers Easel Card

Easel cards are perfect for a special occasion. They are great fun to make & not anything like a traditional shop bought card. Not everyone is fond of Peacock feathers, but I love them. Their colours are rich & gorgeous and the shapes are fascinating. These are shop bought so nothing as vivid as the ones you can collect when peacocks moult.  When I first saw the Perfectly Paisley Cuttlebug embossing folder I thought of peacock's feathers, so had to use it on this card. I've coloured the ribbon with a Turquoise Promarker to match the feathers, the beautiful Bo Bunny Vintage Double Dot cardstock and one of my favourite Distress Inks, Peacock Feathers. How could I not use it! A bit of swirly bling & space to add the special date in. Hey Presto a wedding card (well the next one will be quicker, this one had a lot of will I put it there, no there, no there).

A Small Big Thanks

This was a quick CAS card with lots of sparkles. I love that you can colour (& glitter!) this sentiment from Paper Smooches Chit Chat . I used a fuchia pink Promarker to colour the sentiment & the punched heart. Finished the thanks with glitter & the heart using white gel pen faux stitching & glossy accents for shine.

Top Tip:
Use a toothpick to spread the glitter glue in the narrow spaces of the sentiment letters.

Caoimhe

On this card I decided to let the letters do the talking. I fussy cut Quinn's ABCs & 123s, leaving the centres of the letters in to show off more of the patterned paper & paper pieced the teddy & rocking horse. I love all the fonts on the happy birthday embossing folder, but haven't used it in a while so I dusted it off! I've had the twine for ages. It came wrapped around my prize from Lawn Fawn & I thought this was the perfect card to get it out & use it. I've kept all the sentiment stamping lowercase by using the happy birthday from Paper Smooches. It's such a fun font.

Caoimhe is pronounced Kee-va or Quee-va depending on where you are from. It means beauty & grace and is associated with November.
