Distressed Frog Prince

I love these old patterned papers from Lawn Fawn and had scraps left over from an old project, so here they are with a new lease of life. All they needed was some distress inking around the edges and some faux stitching.

Distress inking the lily pad has created great texture and colour with distress stickles adding to the lily's sparkle and the ink colours the stickles.

Summer of Creative Chemistry Week 3 (ii)

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve - Lawn Fawn Plus, Tag It You're It, Tim Holtz Rays Stencil, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Mermaid Lagoon, Hickory Smoke, Dusty Concord

The Summer of Creative Chemistry and Perfect Splatter Distress Technique - oh so much fun! I made two backgrounds at once so no ink or perfect pearls were wasted. Initially I wasn't too sure about them but when I came back to them the next day I was thrilled with them. I love the shimmer.

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve - Lawn Fawn Plus, Tag It You're It, Tim Holtz Rays Stencil, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Mermaid Lagoon, Hickory Smoke, Dusty Concord

The background made me think of sky and baby girls, so I pulled out my Lawn Fawn stork and set to stamping and watercolouring. I  raised parts of the images up with foam tape for dimension and used Retrosketches for the layout.

Week 3 Summer of Creative Chemistry

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve - Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Childhood Blueprint, Lawn Fawn Birthday Tags, Sally's ABCs Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Ground Espresso, Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Antique Linen

Week 3 of Summer of Creative Chemistry and time for Perfect Distress! I love this shiny stamping technique. I wanted the distress ink to wick and colour the teddy in, so I didn't dry those bits immediately. Here's a close up of the perfect pearls just after application.

Bokeh Forty

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve - Lawn Fawn Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Circle Stackers

After a busy and fun filled family summer, I've finally got a chance to post a card on my blog. Hopefully this is the first of more regular posting now the back to school routine is well established and in theory I've more time on my hands.

Now to the latest creation, I've let the sentiment be the focal point as per the Lawnscaping Challenge this week and created a distress ink coloured bokeh background to display the glittery diecuts. A few sequins and hey presto, a fabulous card! Hey presto needs to be associated with the cards I make at the moment as time is a luxury in between the school runs and never ending laundry that piles up in the wetter weather! All magic welcome!

Bokeh Birthday

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve Bokeh: Lawn Fawn Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Circle Stackers

I've wanted to make a bokeh background for ages so the Lawnscaping Challenge and Yainea's card provided the incentive and CCEE Stampers the tools.
I've blended distress inks on watercolour cardstock. Then stencilled white ink circles and daubed white gesso (faux acrylic) for more vibrant foreground circles, some gold splater and glittery sentiment to finish.
I love all the dimension created within the bokeh background. The diecut letters are layered and coated with glitter paste adding to the texture, sparkle and dimension. Just right to make a late entry for Virginia's View Challenge.

Happy Birthday Little Mermaid

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: EK Success Disney Collection, Hero Arts Magical Background, Lawn Fawn Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Simon Says Stamp Happy die, Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink

Dimension is the word this week so I've pulled out my pop dots and dies! I've used lots of layers, there are seven different heights on this card from card base to gem and a glitter paste that is very dimensional giving lots of sparkly texture.

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: EK Success Disney Collection, Hero Arts Magical Background, Lawn Fawn Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Simon Says Stamp Happy die, Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is celebrating a birthday this month and so are we. Birthday season has officially started with the old new year!
I've distressed both backgrounds with Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. I love this mix of colours especially with a misting of iridescent Glimmer mist. The upper background and happy diecut was created with the smooching technique and the lower one using emboss resist with a distress inking tool. I found the glitter paste while browsing my local-ish online store and it jumped into my cart & arrived the next day- I'm so glad. I love all the glittery dimension it gives.

Bun in the Oven

Grá O'Neill- PAper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Plus One, Large Stitched Rectangles, Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil

I missed the deadline for linking my last card to the first Sparkle and Shine Challenge, so I'm made sure this one doesn't miss the boat! I've used Pretty Pink Posh sequins on the top half and glimmer mist on the bottom half of my card base as per the sketch. The sentiment is clear embossed so it won't run, but the distress marker block has spread out nicely at the bottom.

Grá O'Neill- PAper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Plus One, Large Stitched Rectangles, Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil

The Lawn Fawn oven was white heat embossed and coloured with distress markers as part of Kathy Racoosin's (The Daily Marker) 30 Day Colouring Challenge. I've liberally coated the glass portion of the oven with glossy accents and set the timer for 20:15 as my SIL's baby is due later in the year! I've kept the colours neutral as we don't know the sex of the baby, it'll be a wonderful surprise.

Watercoloured Bundle of Joy

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Plus One, Home Sweet Home, Large Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil

I love this week's CAS(E) this sketch but as my last card using it wasn't very CAS I thought I'd give it another go. Distress inks are so much fun, whether they be markers or pads! A surprise bundle of joy is on the way in our extended family later in the year, so I thought I'd spread a little cheer.
I've used Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil with translucent paste for the stars and these are my dots for the Lawnscaping Challenge.

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Plus One, Home Sweet Home, Large Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil

I've embossed the images to make watercolouring easier and the sentiment for a bit of sparkle. More embossing for Virginia's View Challenge- love this technique!

Mixed Media & Embossed Thinking

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn You've Got Mail, Clearly Besotted Basic Stripes, Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Polka Dot Party Stencil, Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil

Mixed Media background card with lots of embossing: embossing paste dots sanded back to white after applying gelato colour, sprays and stamped stripes, embossed label tape and white heat embossed then watercoloured images. I chose the background colours from the Card Concept's inspiration photo and sanded the embossing paste back to white as a nod to the vase in the photo.  But how did I go from flowers to postbox, I hear you ask! When your thinking of someone you might send flowers, but mostly you'll send a note through the post (or email through the internet) and as our postboxes are green and all spring like it was settled!

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn You've Got Mail, Clearly Besotted Basic Stripes, Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles, Simon Says Stamp Polka Dot Party Stencil, Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil

I've used the CAS(E) this sketch but, as the card involved lots of steps, fussy cutting and messing about with gelatos and sprays, it doesn't fall under their CAS theme. It does contain dots, stripes and lovely Lawn Fawn images so perfect for the Lawnscaping Challenge and three types of embossing for Virginia's View Embossing Challenge which is one year old this month. Embossing was one of the first techniques I tried as a cardmaker and I still love it in all its forms.

Happy Birthday Minion

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Violet's ABCs, Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Speech Bubble Border, Simon Says Stamp Happy die, Polka Dot Party stencil

I decided to recycle some wrapping paper for this card, as my lot are obsessed with the Minions and so are their friends. The pearlescent embossing paste was coloured with Memento Luxe Dandelion Yellow ink and spread on kraft cardstock through the Polka-Dot stencil from Simon Says Stamp. The card base is a little larger than the stencil, so I waited for the first lot of dots to dry, repositioned the stencil using some of the dry dots as a guide and embossed the rest of the cardstock.

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Violet's ABCs, Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Speech Bubble Border, Simon Says Stamp Happy die, Polka Dot Party stencil

I used a craft knife to have Phil crashing through the screen like they do in the film. As he is just wrapping paper I've coated him in matte multi-medium, added some white gel pen, wink of stella and googly eyes.

Grá O'Neill- Paper Learning Curve: Lawn Fawn Violet's ABCs, Cole's ABCs, Quinn's 123s, Speech Bubble Border, Simon Says Stamp Happy die, Polka Dot Party stencil

I've used black sparkly embossing powder on the happy diecut & birthday sentiment and Dandelion Yellow Luxe ink for the rest of it. The Lawn Fawn Quinn's No. 6 was coloured with the yellow ink then covered in stickles instead of stamping with it's coresponding stamp.

Please excuse the poorly lit photos, today was a completely mixed bag. On the bright side there were lots of rainbows!

It's celebrations all round with Craft for the Craic's first birthday and Lawnscaping's 100th Challenge. Looking forward to many more challenges.
I also want to enter this into the first Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp Flickr Co-Challenge.
