OLC Watercolour Thanks

Grá O'Neill Paper Learning Curve: Paper Smooches Crystal Clear, Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles, Scripty Thanks

I've coloured directly on to the Paper Smooches stamps with distress markers, huffed and stamped while masking the silver vase. The leaves were then shaded with a distress marker. The Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Inspirational Photo was a great starting point, I focused on the big blooms in a solid darker vase, the pink colours and the silver mirror surface.
I have a very neglected large silvery vase that used to be polished and displayed, but now languishes in a corner. I may have to get the polish out this weekend and bring some bright springtime cheer to my house. Instagram has the before shot, but I don't know when the after shot will go up, if you discount my stamped vase!

Thick watercolour paper meant that my die cut nearly all the way through, so a label is keeping everything in place on the inside, just in case we have a wardrobe malfunction and something falls out! However it was worth it as I love the watercolour effect of all the blended distress makers on the textured watercolour paper.

Blended OLC Poppy Birthday

Paper Learning Curve- Grá O'Neill: Clearly Besotted Stamps Brushed Poppies, Fabulous Fuchsias

I love the way in which Distress inks blend. However, my flowers blended a little too well, as I stamped the second colour while the first was still very wet, resulting in very little definition between them. I restamped the darker colour and used a watercolour brush to aid the process. The stems underwent the same procedure minus the restamping and the background square was doodled with a watercolour brush.

I added some Wink of Stella to the flower sentiments and stamped the sentiment in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black.

This is a special birthday card for my Auntie Pauline. I've posted it a little early, but as she doesn't have an internet connection, I'm pretty certain it will remain a surprise until the postman delivers it! Hopefully this will bring a little brightness and beauty to the still dull February days!

PS Sparks Photo, CFC128, Sketch Saturday #297

Tim Holtz Dot Fade Stencil, Paper Smooches Crystal Clear, Sentiment Sampler

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Blog has a fabulous inspirational photo this week and this is my interpretation. I've used the gold, pink, grey, wood and a heart.

I've used Sketch Saturdays sketch rotated 90º so the central panel looks more like a wall hanging.

I'm entering this into CAS-ual Fridays Challenge to create a long farewell card. My card is 15x10cm (about 6x4 inches).

WMF#10 Widescreen Over the Edge Heart

Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heroes, Teeny Trees, Hero Arts Starburst

For this card I've used Waltzingmouse Fanatics sketch in widescreen!, tried my had at looping some thread beneath an embellishment and created part of the constellation Orion with Stickled fussy cut stars. For my first attempt at controlled mayhem, I'm surprisingly pleased!

My over the edge heart is Stella'd to within an inch of its life and coated with copious amounts of Glossy Accents. The stars and moon are liberally coated in Antique Linen distress Stickles.

CAS Waltzingmouse Fanatics OLW159

Lots of masking and distress inking on this one. I've tried to use as many colours from the Waltzingmouse Fanatic Challenge and kept it to one layer for One Layer Wednesday Challenge on Karen's blog. The colours reminded me of Autumn and all the falling leaves, so I had to use Teeny Trees. Ideal for CAS-ual Friday's Challenge and Happy First Birthday to Fresh Squeezed Stamps
My biggest challenge was getting my masking tape less sticky, this is my second card as the first needs to be cropped and added as a layer to a new unripped card base. I've not added any glossy accents or stickles, as I love the smooth one layer feel of this card. This doesn't have to be posted for a bit so I might stickle & glossy accent my first card to see if I'll do it to this one.

Windmill

Card #2 for today

This card uses Sketch Saturday #267 rotated 90º, paper pieced windmill (otherwise known as a pinwheel) by Lawn Fawn (Lawnscapings Challenge) and Polka Dot patterned paper and die cut (CAS-ual Fridays Challenge). My stamping smudged and as I kinda liked it,  I decided to make it intentional and rolled as I stamped the next few swirls. Glossy hearts accentuate a sentiment and cover up inky smudges! The windmill is on a spring so you can flick it with your finger, it's surprisingly addictive.

Challenges:

Frog Prince

A fun birthday card for a little prince! I love how the googly eyes change the frog's expression.
The girls at Lawnscaping Challenge Blog have set the task of colouring, oh such a chore ;) I enjoyed this so much I've used two media: I've coloured the frog using promarkers & the lily pad with distress inks. My lily was constructed using different sizes of daisy punches for the petals & stamen, then coloured with Tim Holtz distress inks & glittered. The heart die cut was folded in half, drenched in lots of green distress inks, shaped & raised on pop dots. I followed an old Sketch Saturdays sketch #251. It reminds me of a pond & there is a lovely royal banner that is perfect for Casual Fridays Challenge #104.  I love these two Lawn Fawn patterned papers (Bright Side collection) used together & all hidden flowers on a masculine card.

Baby Laurence

A CAS card to welcome baby Laurence to the family. He's a much sought after cousin by my lot, they've been asking for a cousin since their uncle's wedding! Plenty of blue for the new little boy & some of my favourite Lawn Fawn stamps. I've white embossed Quinn's ABCs and filled them with Stickles so they stand out on the DP. Shaded Lilac Distress Ink on the edges & my first go of a gradient fill with some red Promarkers for a little pop of colour.

G is for ...

Glitter Glue, Girl, Green [but turquoise is possibly blue, so I'll cover that by listing it as Gaeilge: Gorm]

This is a lovely digi image, Shy Fairy, I won from Some Odd Girl. I've coloured her with Promarkers & fussy cut her to sit on the twine, which moved so she looks like she's floating. Note to self: secure twine at back! I've diecut, embossed and distress inked my oval, embossed the base card, punched my number 7 butterfly & liberally sprinkled with glitter glue. The fairy's hair was coloured to match the birthday girl. I'm looking forward to trying this image with different colours.
