Papertrey Ink's 6th Birthday celebrations are continuing with a challenge to create a project that uses some type of watercolor technique or look. Using Sunday's sketch #5, I've heat embossed my flowers in white, then dipped them in distress inks which were smeared on a craft sheet & sprayed with glimmer mist to mix them. I've accentuated the flower centres with Deep Cadmuim watercolour pencil so that they have a daisy quality. I've added some Stickles to Dawn McVey's digital Papertrey Ink freebie & inked the edges in Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

It's A Wrap Challenge- PTI Tag
Papertrey Ink is celebrating 6 years & today's challenge is to find an inspiration photo and create a wrap, tag or gift packaging based on it. Pinterest yielded a beautiful sunflower & butterfly. I used water colour pencils on my butterfly & covered it with glimmer mist for some shine. The PTI Simple Sunflower was stamped with Memento Rich Coco & Tim Holtz Distress Inks with Stickles for a bit of glitter. I distressed the edges of the tag with Antique Linen, added some Trendy Tape & threaded some yellow buttons onto twine. More twine for the butterfly's antennae and some doodling & Stickles for its contrail. I wanted a tall sunflower so I used the Sending You Sunshine sentiment as its stalk. Hopefully this will bring some sunshine (à la glitter) with my gift.

Sun
One of the first stamp companies I came across was Papertrey Ink, but being in Europe it's difficult to get hold of these lovely stamps. A friend kindly gave these to me & I love them. It's my first time using solid stamps, so I didn't have any specialist ink to hand. The distress inks don't give the sharp edges & even coverage I usually like, but I hope I've achieved a more natural weather beaten sunflower, like the one I grew & photographed in October.
A Passion for Papertrey's Challenge this fortnight is 'Whatever the Weather!'. We've been having a mix of hail, sleet & bright sunshine, but I wanted happy weather so that means sun, sun, sun! What's more sunny than sunflowers? Thankfully I was able to photograph this outside in between showers.

DYSU has challenged you to 'Use a Flower' & I've taken up their gauntlet. I've fussy cut the sunflowers & leaves, then layered them to create this Mother's Day Bouquet. I stamped the flower centres directly onto the sunflowers, but you could fussy cut these as well for extra dimension.
TheYoung Crafters Unite Challenge is 'No Colouring'. This makes quite a change not having to colour- just stamp, cut & stick! I really enjoyed trying this & must get some rainbow inks to do more no colour stamping. (I still love my distress inks though!)
