Happy New Year!

Paper Learning Curve- Grá O'Neill: Lawn Fawn Winter Owl, Winter Gifts, Joy to the Woods, Peace Love Joy

I've not made many Christmas cards this month, but I didn't want to let December pass without sharing one. I've used Joy to the Woods (my prize from Lawnscaping Challenge), Peace Love Joy (a prize from Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week last year), Winter Owl & Winter Gifts.

I love these colours for a modern Christmas card that's bright, light and cheery: lots of snowy white, a touch of grey and the deep pink and blue. Glossy Accents, Wink of Stella, Stickles, sequins and a star gem to finish this relatively CAS card.

Athbhliain faoi shéan is faoi mhaise daoibh. I would like to wish everyone a happy new year and lots of fun in 2015. 2014 has been a mixed year in this house; we've welcomed some fabulous new members into our family, through birth and marriage and we've lost some, that have meant the world to us. Joy and sorrow in equal measure and time is needed to adapt. I'm looking forward to the challenges and possibilities of 2015, and the memories of 2014 that make me, me! Time marches forward :)

Welcome 2015!

WMS Bedtime Story Sketch #8

I've used the Waltzingmouse Bedtime Story Sketch #8 for this card to create a little snowy Christmas scene featuring the Milky Way and Northern Lights. The pine forest was built up using second generation stamping all along the curve of the stitch hillside snow drifts.

The Milky Way is white heat embossed and highlighted with distress ink to mimic the Aurora Borealis. The background is misted with glimmer mist for extra festive shine and I've used the Falling Snow Stencil from Simon Says Stamp with pearlescent embossing paste around the aperture.

I've taken a few photos at different angles at allow the shimmer and shine to be seen and finally a close up of the stamping.

WMS Pajama Party Old Pajamas

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees

I've made a project using my oldest Waltzingmouse Christmas set, though it's much more than just a Christmas set. This is one of the first sets from Waltzingmouse Stamps that I came across when I first started stamping. I just love it [in case you haven't guessed by my recent posts!] and keep coming back to it time and time again.

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees

I've trimmed the trees with liquid platinum embossing powder and the stars have been coated in layers of it giving them great dimension. The edges of each of the squares are inked in silver to soften them and they are evenly positioned on a rectangle of silver mirror card. I've masked the sentiments so that I could stamp them side by side and mix up the greetings. I've round the bottom corners of the card base to mirror the rounded tree bottoms and the curved edges of the cakes in the photo inspiration.

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees

I've used the photo inspiration from the Fusion Card Challenge for my colour choices and the three trees represent the three layers of cake. Subconsciously I incorporated the rectangle element of the sketch in the card design too.

WMS Pajama Party Scandi Tag

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees transformed to a Scandinavian Christmas! I've white heat embossed repeating patterns on red card stock, cut it into strips and created a Christmas tree. My favourite is the teeniest tree turned into a row of the knit stitch. I've used white embossing paste stencilled through Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow, then glittered it for a little festive shimmer.

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees, Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Winter Gifts

I've concentrated on one main visual element for the tag to keep it as CAS as possible. This tag is great for mass production as I stamped lines of the repeating images and can use the cut offs to make a few more tags.
On the back I've restamped the stitched tag stamp from Lawn Fawn and the sentiments from Teeny Trees.

Tree Top Baubles

Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees, Half Pint Heroes, Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Lawn Cuts, Simon Says Stamp Happy Die

This is one of my favourite Waltzingmouse Stamp sets and I love using it in different way than originally intended. The baubles are created using the tree tops from the Teeny Trees stamp set. Memento Luxe inks are fantastic for their rich colour and second generation stamping, perfect for the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Colour Chalenge. However, they take a while to dry so I've clear embossed the baubles to allow me to do a little masking and not have wait too long. The bauble clasps are courtesy of bubbles from Half Pint Heroes and the strings are drawn with silver gel pen. I've used lots of silver for Virginia's View All things Metallic Challenge. Lots of stamping to join in with the Penny Black & More Challenge and the Christmas theme at Stamping Sensations Challenge.

Mirror card, glossy embossing and dull yet surprisingly bright in spots light give rise to 'fun' photography. I've tried lots of angles yet there is too much shine, not enough light or the colours are off. Hopefully you'll get the picture,  by taking all the photos as a whole!

Wplus9 Comfort Zone

Wplus9 Woodland Wreath

As usually I'm rushing, so I really needed my comfort zone for this card. A quick CAS card in about 10 minutes. Wplus9 do this so well with matching dies for their build an image stamps. I die cut my shapes, embossed my panel, stamped my images, added gems and Wink of Stella then assembled. I've marked my dies where the stamps line up, so with a small pencil mark I can stamp exactly within the die cut shape. Woodland Wreaths is one of my many favourite Wplus9 stamp sets and I'm looking forward to creating some spring, summer and autumn wreaths too, but that would have been a little outside my comfort zone at the moment.  I want to take my time any experiment with different colours before I show you those! Here's a close up of the wreath:

Owl I Want

Lawn Fawn You're A Hoot, Winter Gifts, Smitty's ABCs

As soon as I saw the Merry Monday photo I knew I had to make this card.  I've cut an aperture in the front of the card using Lawn Fawn Circle Stackables and framed it with paper from the Peace Love Joy Paper Pack (also used this for the hearts). My die cut circle was stamped, coloured, distressed and then lightly misted for a snowy effect.
