Pop-up Unicorn

Grá O'Neill - Paper Learning Curve - Pop Up Card - Lawn Fawn Critters Ever After; The Greeting Farm Magical Friends; Paper Smooches Spectrum; Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script; Papermania Numbers, Tim Holtz Handwritten Celebrate; Lawn Fawn Hearts; Spellbinders Stars

I've been playing along with Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker for the 30 Day Colouring Challenge and wanted to put some of my pieces together on a card. This is one of my favourite types of card. I love pop-ups, how they change from the flat 2D envelope form to their glorious 3D box shape. I've watercoloured all the stamps, shapes and diecuts with distress markers and heat embossed Elodie and the number two in gold. Acetate strips anchor all the elements in place and provide a little movement to the card.

10 Minute Craft Dash

This is a quick CAS card & post! This is my first time trying anything like this. I created in less than 10 minutes for the CAS-Friday 10min Craft Dash & if I'd pre-applied the stamps to the block it would have been even quicker. I choose my colour scheme based on Moxi Fab World Tuesday Trigger, lots of white space with golds & blue. The sentiment is from Hero Arts & the snowflakes are Hero Arts, Kars and Papermania. This is the first inking of my snowflakes.

Engagement

I wanted a go at negative space & pink space, so I die cut a heart from the white textured card front & coloured it pink with Worn Lipstick Distress ink. A second heart was embossed with flowers & vines, coloured with distress ink, the flowers were highlighted with Star Dust Stickles and the whole heart was covered in Glossy Accents.  I love how the Stickles picks up the colour of the distress ink underneath it. More Stickles were added to the large heart & the banner sentiment. The base card was coloured pink & stamped with roses & vines.

Dust 'Em Off: This is my first time using the Disney stamps & Jak Heath Paper. I've had them in my stash for ages. I very rarely use the Congratulations stamp, but I do love all the curls- perfect for glitter!

Top Tip:
If you don't have the space or cash for all the colours of glitter glues, just buy an iridescent glitter glue. It will pick up the distress ink or Promarker/Sharpie colour underneath. The Stickles looked really pink after applied to the wet (or almost dry) distress ink and the sharpies changed my iridescent glue rainbow colours.

Punches, Dies & Texture

This card contains so many of my go to items. My Martha Stewart Butterfly punch is always at hand, I use it so much I can justify buying more, can't I?! Lawn Fawn Quinn's ABCs is such a fun set, it can be used in so many ways & as soon as Quinn's 123s became available they were mine! A white gel pen was one of my first crafty purchases & it's still going strong over a year later.  From this you can tell I don't craft as much as I'd like, but I have a second pen ready to takeover from the first. Glossy accents provides my favourite textured finish & Cuttlebug's D'vine Swirls embossing folder is so versatile I've not tired of it yet. Spellbinders Posy Patch Dies & the matching Heartfelt creations stamps work so well together and last but not least my corner rounder punch.
Oops how did I forget it, glitter glue- everything looks good when it sparkles.

Menswear

I don't use a lot of orange but when I saw the Runway Inspired Challenge photo the colours clicked into place. This is their first menswear collection perfect for a male card. I loved the solid blocks of colour on the top, mirrored by the solid stars & blocks of chevrons on my card. I've used the Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch for this card and I really like the cluster of stars. Initially I could only visualise this as flowers (not exactly what I wanted for a male card) then I saw the star burst. The colours have a real Autumnal feel so I reached for my tiny trees & stamped first on scrap paper & then on my card for a softer look. I used black ink, stamped on the orange distress ink background which took on a slightly green hue.

I went a little over board with the foam squares, but still managed to fit it into a regular envelope. A great find for me was how close shaded lilac distress ink is to ProMarker Blue Pearl and I'm still in love with chevrons, a hot trend that Young Crafters Unite is looking for.

Happy Birthday!

I love playing with distress inks & fussy cutting. The cat, dog, bee, butterfly & tree were paper pieced and the flowers, sky & grass were coloured using distress inks. I've highlighted the flight paths, the bees wings & the birds on the patterned paper with glitter glue and I've only used one Promarker to stripe the bee. The flower stamps come in parts, so each one is unique.

Trying for simple & elegant

To that end I've used two colours [& white!] and tied the ribbon in a flat-ish knot.
I purchased the cake die ages ago and final took it out from languishing at the bottom of a basket. I used a Sharpie marker to colour the icing and Glossy Accents for added shine. The glitter strip is left over from birthday party crown making. The gold card and red organza ribbon are new for the occasion.  I've gone with subtle bling, gold embossing, gold glitter strip & gold card.  The card really shines.
It is Clear it out Challenge's first birthday & their challenge this week is a birthday card, use your bling.
