Jane's Birthday Card

Hero Arts Sparkle Clear: Glam, Simon Says Stamp Happy Sentiments, Lawn Fawn Smitty's ABCs

Seeing as it's STAMPtember I had to stamp my own background! I've used the beautiful Hero Arts stamps [and paper flowers] that I won from Julie's Oh Well... 300 Posts GiveawayJulie has some beautiful card and project inspiration on her blog which is well worth a visit.

This is my first time using this type of paper flower. I've used a few of the petals for a fuller look, added extra glitter, covered the brad with silver liquid pearls and topped with a half pearl I had coloured with distress ink.
The Simon Says Stamp Happy die cut was layered a few times with the top coloured layer placed off centre for a shadow effect and lots of stickles and glossy accents to finish it off. I love using staples to adhere embellishments and this card has the added bonus of one of my favourite colour combinations: pink and silver [& a little navy!] As the background is very busy my birthday sentiment was stamped on vellum and I kept the embossed banner white with some distress inking around the edges to tie the two pieces together. I tried to keep this card as CAS as possible using the same colour of distress ink & embellishments and a large white banner.

I've used this week's CAS(E) this sketch for my card layout and A Blog Named Hero's challenge to "Spell It Out For Me" to personalise this card for a very special Jane. Hopefully Jane can use the banner as a bookmark.

Retro Rocket Birthday

Waltzingmouse Stamps Half Pint Heros, SC/ Hero Arts Starburst Background

I love to combine challenges so when I saw the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Colour Challenge and the Retrosketches challenge, a rocket was launched! I wouldn't normally mix reds, peaches and black, but nature does so I gave it a go.  I inked my background with Barn Door, Festive Berries, Antique Linen, Iced Spruce, Black Soot, Potter's Clay and London Fog hoping to achieve a nebulous sky. Over the red portion I masked and misted Starburst Background for the rocket's plume to echo the rays from the sketch. My rocket was coloured with red, peach, gray and beige Promarkers, black enamel, Wink of Stella and Stickles.

I've also taken A Blog Named Hero's Challenge to use 1 & 4: One Hero Arts stamp and 4 Waltzingmouse stamps. I hope you can see all the glittery bits on this card a little better than my last rocket photography attempt.

Wobble Trio

Hero Arts & Lawn Fawn

A trio of Christmas cards a little early for the season. I've fussy cut my Hero Arts deer, snowman and Lawn Fawn drum and stuck them on with a spring so you can wobble them to your heart's content.  Each image is coloured with Promarkers and I've placed a corresponding Promarker coloured card sprayed with glimmer mist, behind the Hero Arts sentiment. The base layer is embossed with different folders and adhered to the base card with foam squares.
Now for a closer look at all three:

Card #1:
Hero Arts ReindeerHero Arts ReindeerHero Arts Reindeer

Hero Arts deer coloured with Wild Cranberry Promarker, Hero Arts Sentiment stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Papermania Snowflake embossing folder.

Card #2:

Lawn Fawn Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-PumLawn Fawn Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum

Lawn Fawn drum coloured with Island Lagoon Promarker, Hero Arts Sentiment stamped in Tim Holtz Distress Ink Peacock Feathers and Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl embossing folder. I added the pa-rum-pa-pum-pum to ground the drum in the season, as I use this image all year round.

Card #3:

Hero Arts SnowmanHero Arts Snowman

Hero Arts Snowman coloured with Twighlight Sky Promarker, Hero Arts sentiment stamped in Tim Holtz Distress Ink Stormy Sky and Kars Snowflakes embossing folder.

I think this set would be great for the males in my life. I love the colours, bold stripes, wobble action and simple layout with only a hint of bling which is perfect for the boys.

Some Odd Girl Take Two

I wanted to try the Some Odd Girl Sketch the right way round, so I flipped Shy Fairy vertically and went in search of some new inspiration. First I found 4 Crafty Chicks inspiration photo and immediately thought of Mel Stampz tutorial on making your own patterned paper. I dropped the colours into her chevron overlay and set about choosing matching Promarkers. The Patterned paper is very busy and I wasn't sure what I could use with it to keep to the sketch, until I remembered A Blog Named Hero challenged us to use vellum, which I embossed with the HA/Sizzix Dot Swirl. Then with Shy Fairy masked I white embossed a swirling sky using Hero Arts Magical Background coloured with distress inks. Next my Paper Smooches sentiment on the banner and I set about making my embellishments: 1. Diecut glittered letters for the birthday girl's name, 2. White embossed swirly star with her age and 3. Sequins (less making for these and more finding them in my big mixed bag).

10 Minute Craft Dash

This is a quick CAS card & post! This is my first time trying anything like this. I created in less than 10 minutes for the CAS-Friday 10min Craft Dash & if I'd pre-applied the stamps to the block it would have been even quicker. I choose my colour scheme based on Moxi Fab World Tuesday Trigger, lots of white space with golds & blue. The sentiment is from Hero Arts & the snowflakes are Hero Arts, Kars and Papermania. This is the first inking of my snowflakes.

Boo!

I won some Hero Arts clear stamps a while back from Simon Says Stamp & have just got round to using the haunted house in the set. I thought the paisley leaf would make a fabby ghost and the googly eyes were a must. One of my favourite background stamps is Magical Background by Hero Arts, give it a wobble when you are stamping & you too can get the extra swirls that make your eyes think they are out of focus. Totally intentional as I'm sure you know :) I liked the effect so didn't stamp it again. I misted the background with Glimmer Mist & highlighted a few areas with Stickles for a bit of glitter & shine.

This card was a thank you card for someone who loves the Halloween festivities. The sentiment was a bit of fun with the thank you on the inside. This card has a lot of dimension: googly eyes, raised embossed background, foam squares for the ghost & haunted house plus it's a thank you & a Halloween card rolled into one. Hopefully this exemplifies the Fall spirit (Halloween, thank you & an actual spirit).

Sorry for another low light level photo, yeah for the Winter days!

Distressed Ink Seascape

Playing with paints/inks, what a great challenge at Sentimental Sundays. I crumpled my card and applied distress inks with the darkest at the bottom and a little yellow sunshine filtering through from the top. My attempt seemed a little flat (probably need more distress ink colours!) so I stamped on top with my favourite HA background stamp to add some water movement. I initially used water to stamp, but only the left corner was visible, so I then switched to versamark and am much happier with the result.  I'm not sure if the submarine is caught in the net or is just floating by, but the birthday boy looks happy!  I kept the birthday sentiment crisp & white so that it really stands out from the background.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tsukineko Versamark, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Broken China, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac
