July 2012 Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party

This is my first blog party with Waltzingmouse Stamps. The theme is 'The Great Outdoors'. I immediately thought of star gazing on a clear Summer's night & I ended up very far outdoors indeed! Outside the atmosphere rocketing through space. I used the sketch on the blog page only to realise it was last weeks, oops.

My background paper was inspired by Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger. The lines going in different directions, the colours & the triangle shapes like my fours. I think the colours have an Olympic Parrot feel as well, which ties in with Crafts 4 Eternity Recipe Challenge. I've also added sparkle to my rocket's exhaust plume, Stickles to the rocket's lights & glittery silver gel pen to accent the rocket's antenna & trim.

Hope you enjoy all the inspiration as you hop to the beat of the Waltzingmouse Blog Party :)

Happy Birthday Peggy!

The Stampalot Challenge Blog has posed the question, 'What's your crafty passion?' and my card has a little bit of everything I love about cardmaking: fussy cutting, heat embossing, glossy accents, distress inks, promarkers & die cutting. Oh and of course stamping! I really loved using my new stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps and I followed their sketch challenge #106.
Going Buggy's Challenge this month focuses on weather and what could be more appropriate than clouds, as that's mostly what I see whenever I look out the window this Summer.
Passion for Promarker are advocating the use of gingham and I found a lovely digital paper in just the right colour created by Bev Rochester.
Crafts4Eternity have a recipe for you to take your colours from the olympic parrot. I've chosen to focus on blue and this ties in nicely with the DYSU challenge which wants you to play with cool colours, so I picked cool blues for Peggy's card.

Gnome place like home

I completely forgot to photograph this card before I left the house, so please excuse my impromptu photo studio.  There was plenty of sun to pick up the colours, but also to cast lots of shadows.  I can't complain as I was lucky to be able to use my camera out doors at all, considering the weather we've been having lately! My friend has just moved back from Spain to set up her home & I thought this sentiment from Lawn Fawn was just perfect for her new house.
I've use chevron backdrops to make the patterned paper & Gnome Sweet Gnome for the rest.

Foam squares give lots of dimension to the layers. Three layers for the gnome & two for the toadstools.  I've curved the layers for that extra 3D effect!  Fabulous 3D paper-piecing tutorial by Mariska was the inspiration for this.  I had great fun with my Promarkers trying to use shading to increase the depth of the images & glossy accents for the window shine.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit.
